Why Standard Boxes Fail Fragile Items

Most breakages do not happen because a box is too thin. They happen because the product can move inside it. A tumbler rattling against a single-wall side, a plate resting flat on an unpadded base, a circuit board nudging a corner, all channel shock straight into the item at its weakest point. A true fragile box tackles both failures at once: a strong outer shell that absorbs and spreads impact energy, and an inner structure that holds the product perfectly still and clear of every surface the outside world can strike. Miss either half and the parcel becomes a claim waiting to happen the moment it is thrown into a cage.

Double-Wall Board and Structural Strength

Our fragile boxes are built on double-wall BC or EB-flute corrugated, giving roughly twice the crush resistance and puncture strength of standard single-wall cartons. That extra rigidity earns its keep when parcels are stacked several high on a pallet or dropped from a tailgate onto concrete. For exceptionally heavy or high-value consignments we specify triple-wall or reinforced corner construction that refuses to collapse under load. Every box is scored and die-cut for a square, tight closure that holds its geometry under compression, rather than bulging at the seams and shedding the strength you paid for. Edge crush and burst strength are specified to the weight and value of what travels inside, so a box of heavy stoneware is never sent out in board designed for lightweight glass baubles.

The real protection lives inside, so we tailor the cushioning to your product and its specific weak points rather than shipping generic foam.

Fragile Warning Print and Branding

Clear communication is itself part of the protection. We print bold fragile warnings, this-way-up arrows and handling icons in high-contrast colour, so sorters and couriers register the parcel as delicate on sight and treat it accordingly. That functional print sits alongside your own identity: full-colour CMYK artwork, logos and interior messaging. The result is that a genuinely protective box still delivers a considered, on-brand opening experience rather than the anonymous industrial carton customers associate with a rushed, careless despatch.

Sustainability and Ordering

Breakages are the least sustainable outcome of all, since a smashed order doubles the packaging, freight and product footprint at a stroke.
