Heavy Duty Corrugated Boxes
Heavy duty corrugated boxes use triple wall board with very high ECT for industrial, export and bulk loads needing maximum strength.
Product Overview
Heavy duty corrugated boxes are built for the toughest loads, using triple wall board that bonds three fluted mediums between four liners for near-timber levels of strength. This construction delivers very high Edge Crush Test values, so boxes carry dense industrial parts, bulk quantities and export freight that would flatten single or double wall cartons. Triple wall replaces wooden crates in many applications, cutting weight and cost while staying fully recyclable. Grades handle heavy palletised stacking, long sea and road journeys and repeated handling through demanding supply chains. Reinforced die-cut hand holes ease lifting, and kraft or white liner carries clear identification or branding. Supplied flat and glued, these boxes store compactly yet assemble into a rugged container for your heaviest shipments.
- Triple wall, four liners
- Very high ECT rating
- Replaces wooden crates
- Reinforced hand holes
We match the material to the job, drawing on six grades of board: Kraft, Corrugated, Coated Art Board (C1S), Rigid Greyboard, Solid Bleached Sulfate (SBS), and Metallic. Together they span the whole range, kraft for eco-minded artisan brands, heavy greyboard for luxury rigid boxes, and bright SBS for cosmetics, pharmaceutical, and high-end retail packaging. A small business chasing affordable corrugated mailers and a premium label after the weighty snap of a magnetic-closure box draw from the same FSC-certified supply, chosen to look right on shelf, survive transit, and impress at the moment of unboxing.
Finish is the detail customers feel, so we cover every option: soft-touch matte lamination, high-gloss lamination, silk lamination, spot UV coating, gold and silver foil stamping, embossing, debossing, and aqueous coating. Spot UV sets a glossy highlight against matte to steer the eye to your logo; soft-touch lamination gives rigid boxes a velvety surface that says premium before the box is opened. On SBS or coated art paper, foil stamping produces the crisp metallic accents that luxury cosmetic, fragrance, and gifting brands count on to back up their pricing and spark the kind of unboxing people share online.
Paper weight shapes two things at once: how the box sits in the hand and how it fares in transit. We run the whole scale from lightweight 8pt to heavyweight 28pt, using the point system common to US and UK suppliers. For folding cartons and high-volume retail boxes, 8pt–12pt does the job; for most product packaging, 14pt–18pt is the dependable workhorse, strong enough to protect, light enough to keep shipping costs down. And 20pt–28pt brings the rigid, substantial feel that luxury gift boxes, rigid set-up boxes, and premium cosmetic packaging rely on, where the box's weight signals quality before the lid is lifted.
Heavy Duty Corrugated Boxes in Triple Wall Board
Heavy duty corrugated boxes handle the loads that defeat ordinary cartons, using triple wall construction to protect industrial, bulk and export goods through the harshest supply chains. They combine crate-like strength with the light weight, recyclability and lower cost of corrugated, which is why so many manufacturers now move away from timber and heavy plastic cases toward engineered triple wall packaging.
Triple Wall Construction
Triple wall board bonds three separate fluted mediums between four liners, creating three independent arch layers that resist crushing and puncture to a degree single and double wall simply cannot reach. The stacked flutes, usually a mix of coarse and finer profiles, give exceptional wall thickness and rigidity while keeping the board far lighter than solid timber. This is why triple wall is frequently specified as a direct, lower-weight alternative to wooden crates and heavy cases for shipping machinery, engines, bulk goods and industrial equipment, where the packaging itself must survive brutal handling and still protect a valuable load.
Very High ECT and Load Capacity
Heavy duty grades reach very high Edge Crush Test values, supporting loads that can run well into the hundreds of kilograms per box depending on the exact specification. Because ECT drives a box's compression strength, these grades stack safely at the base of tall pallets and hold their shape through long container journeys under constant top load. We calculate the grade from your unit weight, the stack configuration, transit duration and expected humidity, since moisture softens fibre and reduces strength over time, so the carton performs reliably under sustained pressure rather than gradually crushing in storage or at sea.
- Very high ECT grades
- Supports heavy palletised loads
- Rated for long export transit
Industrial and Export Applications
Triple wall boxes suit engine and machine parts, industrial components, heavy tools, bulk agricultural and chemical goods, appliances and large export consignments crossing multiple borders. They meet demanding transit requirements while avoiding the weight, cost, storage bulk and international fumigation and phytosanitary rules that timber packaging can bring under regulations such as ISPM 15. That makes triple wall a simpler, cleaner and often cheaper route for exporters, with faster packing and no need to heat-treat or certify wood before shipping.
Handling and Reinforcement
Heavy contents demand safe, controlled handling, so we die-cut reinforced hand holes sized and positioned for a secure grip, and can add internal corner posts, edge boards or bracing to distribute the load and stiffen the walls. These features protect both the goods and the people lifting and moving them, and keep the box square and stable under weight during stacking, strapping and forklift handling. Full-overlap or double-thick bases can also be specified where the load is especially dense or concentrated. For very heavy consignments the box can be built to sit on a pallet base or slip over a wooden skid, combining corrugated walls with a rigid foundation so the whole unit can be strapped, stacked and craned safely.
Printing and Identification
Clear identification is critical on industrial and export freight, so kraft liner with bold flexo print handles part numbers, handling symbols, weight marks and destinations legibly. Where the box faces a customer or forms part of a branded industrial product, white liner and litho printing carry full-colour branding even on this heavy board. Standardised handling and orientation marks help warehouse and freight crews treat the load correctly at every stage of the journey, reducing mishandling of dense and awkward items.
- Bold flexo identification print
- White liner for branding
- Handling and destination marks
Sustainability and Wholesale Supply
Despite its considerable strength, triple wall corrugated is recyclable and much lighter than the timber it replaces, cutting freight weight, handling effort and end-of-life disposal cost in one move. We help you confirm the grade with transit testing so you specify enough strength for the load without over-building the box, keeping both material use and cost in proportion to the job.
